june 2012

This dress skirt is my entry in an exhibition to be held at Bellamys Gallery in November and features a triple circle skirt with appliqued autumn leaves.

Winter is here with a vengeance! The shop is well stocked with knits and coats, and plenty of cool skirts and trousers so we have been using the spare time to rearrange the shop a bit, the first time in ages. Alex is making more of his really popular swing backed jackets with the faux rabbit fur trimmed hoods. I have been designing some narrower legged trousers based on a jeans shape. It is quite difficult, because the reason our wider leg trousers were so popular is because they flatter every ones shape, and make your waist and bum look smaller, and don't emphasise thighs. The narrower pants, therefore, are not for everyone, but they are working well so far. I made myself a pair and hardly took them off. When I finally put them in the wash I realised they were not even hemmed! There are a set of these pants in the shop in plain black Bengaline for people to try, and we can go on from there, either making them to order, or modifying the pattern a bit.  It is all a process.
